What is the Solidarity fund?
The Solidarity Fund Foundation supports international students enrolled at the University of Zurich (UZH). Its purpose is to facilitate access to higher education, promote internationalisation and diversity and contribute to equal opportunites for international students facing financial hardship.
The Solidarity Fund for International Students was established as an association in 1976 and transformed into a foundation in 1982. It is jointly administred by ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich.
The foundation is financed through voluntary contributions from students and faculty members of both UZH and ETH Zurich.
Eligibility
As an international student, you may apply for financial assistance for a Bachelor's degree programme at UZH only after having earned at least 55 ECTS credits or successfully completed the assessment year.
If you are enrolled in a Master's degree programme at UZH, you are eligible for support from the Solidarity Fund only if you obtained your Bachelor's degree from a Swiss higher education institution.
International students are defined as students residing in Switzerland for the purpose of pursuing their studies.
How to apply for a scholarship from the Solidarity Fund?
If you are enrolled at the University of Zurich, you may submit a scholarship application through the general application portal of the UZH Student Financial Aid office. Following a comprehensive assessment of your financial circumstances and academic progress, the Student Financial Aid office will determine whether you may be eligible for support from the Solidarity Fund or another suitable foundation or funding source.
Please note that direct applications to the Solidarity Fund are not acceppted at UZH.
